| Marston Vale Integrated Urban Drainage Pilot Study
|
| Hannah Reed acted as Project Co-ordinator for one of fifteen prestigious
Defra-funded Pilot Studies to consider Integrated Urban Drainage opportunities.
The study concentrated upon the Marston Vale, located to the south west of Bedford,
analysing the efforts of the Marston Vale Surface Waters Group and drawing on their experience of implementing
strategic flood risk solutions. |
| The study identifies the key challenges and opportunities facing the planning authorities,
land drainage authorities, landowners, developers and other stakeholders in delivering strategic solutions in the local water environment. |

|
|
|
Our Pilot Study comprised 3 key objectives to determine:
1) The impact of The Surface Waters Plan to date on the planning process.
2) Lessons learnt from implementation of the West of Kempston Master Plan.
3) The potential expansion of the Master Plan and its use as a delivery model for other catchments.
|
| An extensive consultation exercise was undertaken to engage stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of the Plan,
and the strengths and weaknesses in delivering the priciples for strategic development. A series of recommendations were generated to aid the future
delivery of drainage assests in the catchment and beyond. |
