Bedford Borough and
Mid-Beds District
Water Cycle Strategy
Consultants for the project Halcrow called on Hannah-Reed's expertise and local knowelede to prepare the flood risk and surface water elements of the Outline Water Cycle Strategy.
The strategy is being promoted by the local delivery vehicle Renaissance Bedford, the Drainage Authorities and local councils and covers an area within the boundaries of the former Bedford Borough and Mid-Beds Distrcit Councils (now a unitary authority).
It identifies the key challenges and opportunities facing the planning authorities, land drainage authorities, landowners, developers and other stakeholders in the local water environment.
The strategy embraces Hannah Reed's Surface Water Plan for the area in promoting the strategic management of surface waters and policies that will encourage and deliver development with an integrated and sustainable approach to flood risk issues.
A detailed WCS is currently being scoped for winter 2009.
